This course introduces EFL students to English phonetics and phonology. With an emphasis on articulatory phonetics, it provides them with an essential background about the organs of speech as well as the different articulatory parameters for all English sounds. Students, then, are introduced to some basic aspects of connected speech such as assimilation, elision and linking as well as to other important related notions like phonemes, allophones, broad and narrow transcription.
