Research takes many forms. In this course, I will introduce you to the subject of educational research and explain why knowledge of the various types of research is of value to educators. Because research is but one way to obtain knowledge, we also describe several other ways and compare the strengths and weaknesses of each. I will provide a brief overview of educational research methodologies to set the stage for a more extensive discussion in later courses. Lastly, I will discuss criticisms of the research process.
